Shooting in South Florida: My Go-To Spots
One of the best things about being a photographer in South Florida is the sheer variety of locations. Whether you're into city vibes, beachy aesthetics, or lush greens, there's something here for every shoot type. I’m always on the lookout for places that give me natural light, versatile backdrops, and that extra spark of creativity, without needing heavy setup or crazy travel time.
Over the years, I’ve built a list of go-to locations that not only photograph beautifully but also work well for my clients' comfort and vision.
Rooftops in Downtown Fort Lauderdale
Downtown Fort Lauderdale has some of the best rooftop spots for photoshoots, especially if you time it around golden hour. The mix of urban texture, soft lighting, and skyline views makes it a perfect spot for branding photos, fashion shoots, or just elevated lifestyle content. Plus, most rooftops offer clean lines and minimal distractions in the background, great for keeping the focus on your subject.
Parks and Open Spaces in Pompano Beach
If you're looking for a more natural feel, Pompano Beach’s parks and public greenspaces offer soft, even light and beautiful scenery. I like shooting here for family portraits, couples sessions, and even birthday shoots because the light is forgiving, and there's usually plenty of space to move around without a crowd.
Golden hour in Pompano hits different. The way the sunlight filters through the trees or hits the sand gives everything a warm, flattering glow that looks amazing on camera, no flash required.
Wynwood, Miami
Wynwood is one of my favorite spots in Miami for a creative and colorful backdrop. Think bold murals, textured walls, and street art that brings a vibe to your photos instantly. It’s great for content creators, musicians, or anyone building a brand who wants something that stands out. You can walk just a few blocks and get a dozen different looks without ever needing to leave the area.
Natural Light Studio
Booking Studios Through Peerspace
Sometimes outdoor shoots just aren’t it, maybe it’s too hot, raining, or you need more control over the setup. That’s when I turn to Peerspace, an online platform that lets you book unique, ready-to-shoot indoor spaces across South Florida. Think of it like Airbnb for creatives.
Most of the studios I book through Peerspace offer:
Natural light through large windows
Minimal or modern backdrops
Props or furniture that can be used for styling the scene
Hourly rental options, which are great for short branding or product sessions
If you’re new to using studio spaces or want to elevate your portfolio, Peerspace is a game changer. You don’t need a full-time studio to deliver studio-quality results.
Creating Pop-Up Studios on the Go.
Of course, not every shoot needs a fancy space. Some of my best sessions were done in parking lots, shaded corners of a park, or even garages, all with a simple setup.
I usually bring:
A portable backdrop stand
A roll of neutral seamless paper or a soft-colored fabric
One or two props, like a stool or plant
Natural reflectors or a light diffuser depending on the time of day
Pop-up setups like these are perfect for quick birthday sessions, personal branding, or product shots. They’re also ideal for photographers who are still growing and want flexible, low-cost options that still look professional in the final image
Finding the right location isn’t just about what looks good, it’s about what works for your client, your style, and the vibe you want to create. Whether you're shooting outdoors with golden hour light or inside a rented studio, South Florida is full of photo-friendly spaces that can bring your vision to life.
And the best part? You don’t need a huge budget or a massive team to make it happen. You just need the right spot, good light, and your creative eye.
